A bizarre macabre representation of Beethoven.

A polychrome alabaster sculpture depicting a Beethoven with a skeletal face and the presence of a sort of demon above his chest.

The sculpture, originally from the 19th century, was almost certainly modified with this final expression between the 20th and 21st centuries.

From research and careful observation, the artist probably wanted to express these multiple meanings mainly linked to death and the demons that Beethoven experienced in his existence. Internal demons reflected in the very hard challenges that life has harshly provided him with such as the ability to create music despite his total deafness.

The object as a whole is certainly one of a kind.

The origin is uncertain, presumably Germany.
