Exceptional reproduction of a life-size petrified head probably made between the end of 1800 and the beginning of 1900, fixed on a gilded wooden base.

The petrifactors were taxidermists of human bodies of the 19th century. We have famous examples in Italy such as the anatomist Paolo Gorini, where in Lodi there is a museum dedicated to him.

The object in question is truly impressive. The materials certainly used are plaster, wood, paper, glass eyes and most likely animal skin, perhaps goat or similar.
