High relief wooden sculptural masterpiece representing the famous scene of Dr. Tulp's anatomy lesson.

The original work, a painting on canvas made by Rembrandt in 1632, shows an anatomy lesson by Professor Nicolaes Tulp, who is dissecting the left arm of a corpse, a certain prisoner hanged in 1632 in Amsterdam.

This sculptural scene of the highest quality was then embellished with other details that make the work unique, such as the presence of the crucified Christ and accessories and objects of the time.

Germany probably 19th century.
