Probably made in northern Italy in the 18th century, it is a refined composition of gilded bronze embellished with Mediterranean corals, a large smoky crystal sphere enclosed in an elegant bronze frame, and a precious natural agate mounted on an adjustable stand.

The ingenious construction system allows both the sphere and the agate disc to be completely removed, while the candle holder can be moved to the desired position, transforming the object into a small stage machine.

When the candle is lit, the light passes through the smoky crystal and the agate, creating extraordinarily evocative lighting effects, enhancing the natural transparency of the stone and creating an almost theatrical atmosphere.
The quality of the workmanship, the originality of the design, and the complexity of the construction suggest a commission for an important aristocratic residence or a prestigious cabinet of curiosities.

To date, no comparable examples exist, making this candlestick a work of exceptional collector's interest.
