The composition, striking in its theatrical impact, depicts a fantastical ceremonial vessel shaped like a seashell. It is supported by a powerful mythological male figure—evoking the iconography of Poseidon or Neptune—accompanied by a Triton.

The composition centers on the theme of sea gods, interpreted through a rich decorative and imaginative repertoire.
The ship’s hull is lavishly adorned with scrolls, acanthus leaves, foliate motifs, and relief ornamentation. An elegant female sea figure—a Nereid or nymph—serves as the figurehead at the prow, while a raised structure at the stern recalls the castle of an ancient galleon.

The inclusion of masts and a large metal sail further accentuates the composition's verticality and theatrical character.
Supporting the vessel is a nude male figure, depicted kneeling with a powerfully modeled physique. The rendering of the musculature, hair, and beard—combined with the body's torsion and the positioning of the arms—imparts remarkable sculptural vigor to the figure.
