Make your offer

An important 18th-century monstrance/reliquary for a cabinet of curiosities, crafted from finely embossed silvered copper and bronze.

The work features an extremely scenic structure, enriched with rocaille scrolls, masks, and ornamental details of remarkable craftsmanship. Two natural lapis lazuli stones are set at the base, a rare and particularly refined element for objects of this type.

Inside the glass bell jar is a large branch of natural red coral, mounted as an authentic sculptural element and decorated with small silver and coral flowers. Attached directly to the coral is an ancient relic with handwritten inscriptions referring to saints.

The ensemble possesses an extraordinary Baroque cabinet of curiosities aesthetic, poised between sacred art, naturalia, and the collection of curiosities.

Italy, 18th century.
