Rare iron box with memento mori theme containing a sculpture of a nun with her face half stripped of flesh.

An interesting object enriched with details both inside and outside the container.

Inside there are numerous paperoles, which are paper decorations that nuns and sisters made manually for reliquaries and sacred objects.

The sculpture is protected by glass.

Italy probably late 18th century.
