A pair of antique forged iron armor gauntlets, likely of Italian manufacture, dating to the 17th or 18th century.

Two small fragments from an era when armor was not merely protection, but the product of extraordinary craftsmanship.

The structure consists of numerous articulated lames (plates) secured by rivets, allowing the hand and wrist to retain a degree of mobility. Particularly striking are the large, articulated side wings designed to protect the most exposed parts of the hand.

The iron retains an antique surface, rich in oxidation, encrustations, and the marks of time. They have not undergone aggressive cleaning; thus, their current appearance preserves much of the material character and patina that time has bestowed upon the metal.
