A magnificent polychrome wood Christ, probably of Flemish origin, dating between 1450 and 1490, is in a seated position with his hands bound. This is a typical position of Christ, often seated on a stone, symbolizing the period of suffering before the crucifixion.

An example of excellent craftsmanship and a stunning original patina.

The sculpture is accompanied by a plexiglass stand, made specifically for Christ to sit on.

Height of the sculpture alone: 41 cm (16.1")
