Rare Sicilian puppet depicting Death, dating back to the 19th century.

A work of great craftsmanship, crafted entirely from carved and painted wood, with a fully articulated structure using original strings. The figure represents an anatomical skeleton with a scythe, an extremely unusual and rare iconography in the context of traditional Sicilian marionettes, generally associated with the cycle of chivalry.

The quality of the sculpture is particularly remarkable, with a surprisingly realistic and three-dimensional rendering of the bones. Also of great interest is the definition of the skull and hands, as well as the complexity of the joint system that allows for natural and fluid movements.

Condition: Good, with signs consistent with its age and use on stage.
