A sought-after, early, and extremely rare French edition of Quevedo's Works, printed in Brussels in 1718 (73 years after Quevedo's death).

The OCLC Global Catalog of Libraries lists only three copies worldwide, held by the Royal Library in the Netherlands, Newcastle University in England, and the Württembergische Bibliothèque in Germany. This second volume contains the complete "Dreams," Quevedo's most famous philosophical work, considered one of the masterpieces of the Spanish Golden Age. This copy is decorated with 17 spectacular and haunting full-page engravings depicting devils, death, hell, torture, eschatological scenes, nudes, etc.

The binding requires restoration.

Translation from Spanish to French by Mr. Raclots of Paris. 14.5 x 9 cm, 220 grams. Very rare for sale.
