An austere face, a robe in antique hues, and a large key clasped in his hands.

This polychrome wood sculpture depicts Saint Peter, recognizable by his most characteristic iconographic attribute: the key to the Kingdom of Heaven.

A work of folk sacred art dating to the second half of the 17th century, featuring a simple yet expressive style that captures the full power of the devotional tradition of the era.

The figure is carved in relief and mounted on a wooden panel with a dark frame. The polychromy—now deeply weathered by time—retains traces of the original red and green tones. Abrasions and widespread paint loss give the piece an authentic, time-worn appearance, bearing witness to its long history.

A fine example of 17th-century folk sacred art, characterized by a direct and spontaneous style; while lacking the refinement of major sculpture workshops, it is rich in personality and historical charm.
