Extremely rare example of wooden sculpture representing the guardian of the forest.

A giant esoteric mask sculpted and carved entirely of one piece, originally from the South Tyrolean valley, which was used as an esoteric image in local festivals. Legend says that it could drive away negativity especially those caused by atmospheric events that caused inconvenience.

There are not many known original examples. This was kept in a private collection for many years.

Origin from Alto Adige, 19th century, dimensions 93 x 43 x 25 cm
