Museum specimen.

Exceptional marble sculpture with its own mask of infamy. An article perhaps one of a kind in the world, for type of execution, quality and rarity.

A sculpture in white statuary Carrara marble, which is the TOP quality of marble, depicting a man with glass eyes and slightly polychrome, wearing a real mask of infamy in forged iron in the shape of a wolf's head. The mask, which has an exceptional patina, still has some leather residue inside that was in contact with the person's head. There are labels on the sculpture, perhaps a numbering of some collection or museum. The main label which is placed on the front, is written in Italian and should read the following: "Punitive mask of public shame, torture and punishment, intended to ridicule and humiliate violent people".

People who had committed a certain type of crime were destined to wear these masks in public and were often affected in a serious and fatal way.
