Very rare Memento Mori candlestick that belonged to a brotherhood in central Italy with a warning painted at the base that says "YOU DO GOOD UNTIL YOU HAVE TIME".

A wooden candlestick totally covered in embossed bronze sheet metal which has been partly gilded and partly silvered. The candlestick was probably subsequently adapted and modified on commission by the brotherhood. In fact there are two skulls with crossed bones in painted sheet metal that can be removed.

A truly fascinating object, full of history, mystery and certainly a great piece of furniture.
