Almoner, alms container in polychrome terracotta. Unique and extremely rare example.

An exceptional item, a terracotta almoner in the shape of a skull but with closed eyes. The shape of the almoner which is already bizarre and particular, his material is even rarer and more interesting. A golden cross is located at the top, and the IHS writing in the rear door.

The internal part and the profile of the door are covered in prestigious ecclesiastical fabric. The embedded upper handle is made of forged iron.

Germany 19th century.

Skull size only, approximately 17 x 13 x 14 cm, (6,7" x 5,1" x 5,5") approximately actual size.
