Very rare and exceptional seventeenth-century painting on wood representing the Confraternity of Black Penitents of Florence.

An object full of fascinating history that decorated the tympanum above the door of an entrance to a sacristy-type room.

The Brotherhood of Black Penitents included men and women from every social class, from the simple plowman to the rich bourgeois. They went to the aid of the poor, visited the sick and attended funerals.

There are very few historical articles relevant to this topic. This is undoubtedly one of the rarest.
